Battling Bogs and Bagging Wainwrights: Lake District North Central Fells I headed to the Lake District to take on the Central Northern Fells. This is a 19-kilometer circular route starting from near Keswick and is notorious for boggy ground. This was going to test me physically and mentally that’s for sure. This was supposed to be an easy day too, as this hike was the day before I tackled the Coledale Horseshoe with the lads which has already been on the channel. Despite the blue skies and sunny weather, the ground conditions made for a tough day with bog, elusive paths, stream crossings and even climbing a 6ft fence. Wet feet were guaranteed. The hike spanned over 6 hours and 30 minutes, covering an elevation gain of over 900 meters and burning almost 2,500 calories.
