In this video I replace the alternator on my 2003 BMW E46 with a M54 engine. Since owning the car, I’ve experienced an alternator noise that sounded like a whine and wanted to replace the remanufactured alternator that was currently in place. This procedure is applicable to the E46 (MY 1999-2005), E39 and the E53 X5 with the M54 engine, but differences may be present due to engine layout.
