2017 Harley Davidson Fat Bob Exhaust Comparison

Just a quick video showing the before and after of some exhaust / intake mods on my 2017 Harley Davidson Fat Bob. The first half of the video is just the stock header pipe with S&S slip ons, and stock air filter. Bike sounded much better than stock but still felt restricted and had a lot of deceleration popping. In the second half of the video, I have de - catted the stock head pipe, added a K&N high flow air filter, and a Vance & Hines Fuelpak FP3. I set the Fuelpak initially on the settings for the Vance and Hines staggered Big Shots, as they are the closet match to my setup... mine being 2 into 1 (where the cat used to be) into 2. The staggered Long shots have a hidden crossover, so they are basically the same 2 into 1 into 2. The bike ran very well in this configuration but I have done a few auto tunes since. Before I de - catted the exhaust, I left the heat shields on and used a pencil to trace where it covered, then marked about 8mm - 10mm inside the line as my cutting guide so once the job is complete you cannot tell it has been opened. I did 3 cuts with a 4 inch grinder cutting disc, as you can see in the video and swung the "flap" out, this gives you plenty of room and one less cut to weld back up. I used a pry bar and chisel to dig the cat out, and re welded with my MIG. Then I ground down the excess welds and added a couple of coatings of exhaust paint. With the heat shield back on you cannot even tell it has been de catted. The bike now sounds much better - not that much louder but a lot deeper and more punch and presence... and that V twin crackle is now there... The bike also runs much cooler thanks to the cat being removed and deceleration popping is 99% gone. The bike pulls harder all through the rev range and just feels so much more responsive. The audio from the camera does not really do the exhaust sound justice unfortunately, but when you give her a boot full.... my god she sings! This video was recorded with a Samsung Galaxy S7. I will do some more videos soon with better sound as I have a home studio with pro grade mics, this was just a quick on the fly comparison. Cheers
