Let's head in an eastward direction and cross the Cascades, to the half of Washington that is most definitely underreported. Eastern Washington is naturally less lush and hospitable but that by no means translates to its destinations being less worthy of visiting. Located in this region is a river valley with a promising amount of agricultural fertility. As a result, the people of this arid landscape have produced an urban oasis which tends to the oversight and business of its surrounding farmland. Yakima, coined as the "Palm Springs of Washington" is a quiet but productive city of under 100,000 people. Famous for the cultivation of some of the most delicious apples you'll ever try, its adjoining farms also grow sizable quantities of hops as well as wine grapes. Altogether Yakima's grand domain represents an authentic portion of the Evergreen State, one whose culture clings much more favorably to the inland west than it does to West Coast cities like Seattle or Olympia. We may no longer exactly be at the "Most West" but Yakima is sure to capture some of inland Washington's best. May your experiences in this destination be "fruitful" as ever.
