Tamir Rice protestors interrupt Cleveland city council

CLEVELAND - A group of protestors interrupted Cleveland’s city council meeting Monday, railed against Cleveland Police and called for justice for 12-year-old Tamir Rice. “We hereby set premium standards of transparency for the Cleveland Police Department,” shouted one protestor in the middle of the meeting. The protests came nine days after a Cleveland Police officer killed Rice at Cudell Rec Center on the city’s west side . Rice was holding an airsoft gun that looked real. “We hereby demand a reconstructed civilian review board,” shouted another protestor. The protestors, organized by the Child Defense Fund New Abolition Association, demanded that the members of the civilian police review board be elected rather than appointed by the mayor.
