「Learn Japanese」 て-Form-VERB + ある as "VERB has been done (intentionally and the resultant state of that action remains)" Full post with more info and examples on our official website: http://learnjapanese.becauseofdreams.... Construction: て-Form VERB + ある = "VERB has been done (intentionally and the resultant state of that action remains)" *VERB words used must be transitive verbs The grammar pattern て-Form VERB + ある is used to express that an action has been performed upon something intentionally (usually in preparation) and has been left in that state to the current time. This grammar pattern can be used to describe intentional actions of your own, as well as intentional actions of others. Even if you do not know who the other person is, this grammar pattern can be used as long as you still know the action was done intentionally. For this reason, in the actual grammatical construction, the performer of the action isn't as important as the object the action was performed upon. This grammar pattern is only used with transitive verbs. Despite this, the particles most commonly used to connect the direct object to the VERB word in the grammar pattern are は and が-and sometimes even もう, due to the implication that the action has already been completely performed. At times, the direct object を is also exhibited. Example(s): 蓄えてある Takuwaete aru "to be stored up, to be in reserve" 立ててある Tatete aru "to be left standing upwards" 本が綴じてある Hon ga tojite aru "The book is kept in bound form" Sentence Example(s): 電気がつけてある。 Denki ga tsukete aru. "The lights are left on" 料理が作つくってある。 Ryouri ga tsukutte aru. "The meal has been made" 付けはもう払ってありました。 Tsuke wa mou haratte arimashita. "The bill had already been paid for in advance." オーブンを温めてある。 Oven o atatamete aru. "The oven is being pre-heated." *Note how suitable this example sentence in particular is for usage of the direct object marker を, as there is still a sense that the prepatory action, pre-heating the oven, is still being performed. パーティの準備がしてありますから、早く来ても大丈夫ですよ。 Party no jyunbi ga shite arimasu kara, hayaku kite mo daijoubu desu yo. "Preparations for the party are already done, so it's fine if you get here early." Anime Example(s): 安心してよ。どこで寝ていてもベッドの右半分はいつも君のために残してあるから。 Anshin shite yo. Doko de nete ite mo beddo no migi hanbun wa itsu mo kimi no tame ni nokoshite aru kara. "Don't worry. No matter where I sleep, I'll always have the right side of the bed saved just for you." *From episode 6 of Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin Similar Grammar Pattern(s): て- Form VERB + いる as “has VERB-ed” (Resultant State) て-Form VERB + おく as “to do VERB ahead of time” ✧¸¸.•*¨*• •*¨*•.¸¸✧ Interested in learning Japanese with anime?
