Math literacy is an individual's capacity to identify and understand the role that mathematics plays in the world. The capacity to recognize, analyze, pose questions, formulate, engage, interpret and communicate in a variety of contexts. It includes diverse reasoning (analytical, creative, critical, divergent, convergent, concrete, repetitive, abstract, quantitative) and the use of disciplinary concepts, procedures, facts and tools to describe, explain and predict phenomena. Disciplinary literacy assists individuals to recognize the role that the discipline plays in the world and to make the well-founded judgements and decisions needed by constructive.
