Joseph Smith, the prophet who restored the Church of Jesus Christ, grew up studying from the Bible. When he was questioning which church to join, he turned to the Bible and read James 1:5: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” It was this promise from the Bible that brought him to pray and receive the First Vision where he saw God the Father and his son Jesus Christ.
