Don't Lose This MTB Gem. Greer Ranch Mountain Biking Trail Advocacy

Support ::: Inland Valley MTB Association ::: http://ivmtb.org MAY 12, 2021 The Murrieta Planning Commission allowed our MTB community to show gratitude for the commission and involved agencies, voice our appreciation and love for the trails, and express our concern about losing such an amazing outdoor resource. The Regional Conservation Authority (RCA) will be the land manager of the open space that contains much of the current trails. RCA is a group focused on protecting wildlife and also allowing for passive recreation* which would include biking, hiking, and equestrian. *passive recreation refers to low-impact or "non-consumptive" activities. Fishing and hunting would be considered "consumptive". ------------------------------------------------------------ Brief Background of Advocacy at Greer Ranch (from IVMTB post, link below) The Greer Ranch trail network has organically evolved to become one of the most popular mountain biking destinations in Southern California, attracting hundreds of riders weekly. However, most of the area is privately owned and a portion of the property is slated to become houses soon. In spite of these trails being unsanctioned, local advocates including representatives from the Inland Valley Mountain Bike Association have worked with the local jurisdictions and agencies including the RCA (Western Riverside County Regional Conservation Authority) for years to work collaboratively on a solution.
