Fen and I started at Gunner Pool Recreation Area and headed east on the trail for an easy hike in — just over 2.5 miles each way. It was one of those quick trips where the goal isn’t distance, but just getting out into the woods. Temperatures dropped into the 20s overnight, and we spent the evening posted up at camp with a big fire to stay warm. Once I got set up, I went through all the gear I brought with me — I’ve had a few people ask what I actually carry on these trips, so I figured this was a good chance to show everything. Early the next morning it started raining, so we packed up and headed back to the truck — cold, tired, but happy to be out there. This was a short but cold overnight on the North Sylamore Creek Trail in the Ozark National Forest. Thanks for coming along with us. As always, appreciate you being here.
