A Glimpse of Heaven | Revelation 4:1-11

What is heaven really like? Is it simply our favorite earthly pleasures—or something far greater than we can imagine? In today’s teaching, Mike continues our series The Blessing Book with Revelation 4:1–11, where John is invited through an open door into heaven itself. Before judgment unfolds and before history reaches its climax, God gives us a glimpse of what matters most: a throne, firmly occupied. This passage marks a major transition in the book of Revelation—from the churches on earth to the throne room of heaven. John sees God’s sovereignty on display, surrounded by worship, holiness, power, and beauty beyond description. We encounter the twenty-four elders, the four living creatures, the sea of glass, flashes of lightning, and the unending cry of heaven: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty.” Though Christians may differ on how Revelation unfolds, they unite on this truth: God reigns. God is holy. God is worthy. Revelation 4 reminds us that history is not chaotic, fear does not have the final word, and worship is the right response to seeing God rightly. As we study this chapter together, we’re invited to live now in light of the throne—laying down our crowns, surrendering our lives, and asking the most important question of all: Are we living for God’s glory?
