Lᴜᴋᴇ Wᴀʟᴋs - Saint Louis Catholic Church วัดเซนต์หลุยส์ - After Father Louise Chorang was appointed as the Patriarch of Bangkok after Patriarch René Perros, he moved the Patriarch's residence from Assumption Monastery to near St. Louis Hospital. It was then that he noticed that there were many faithful Christians in the St. Louis area who had to attend ceremonies at other churches, such as Assumption Monastery & Kalwar. So he conclude that there was a need and enough parishioners to open a new church in the St Lois area so on November 1, 1955, he announced that he intended to build the Abbey of St. Louis on the plot of land that Bishop Louis Wayne and Father Louise Romeu purchased in 1895. Both of them intend to make the land here as the location of a big church in the future - amazing foresight & patience (60 years). Since 1898 Saint Louis Hospital has been the prominent healthcare facility of Catholics in Thailand. The hospital was visited by two Popes - 1984 by Pope John Paul II, and in 2019 by Pope Francis. John Paul II Charity Clinic is the hospital's charity clinic which provides basic healthcare free-of-charge for patients in poverty, poor church-goers, and the hospital's staff members. The clinic was founded in order to commemorate the Papal visit to the hospital of Pope John Paul II in 1984. Saint Louis Station สถานีศึกษาวิทยา - is a BTS Skytrain station, on the Silom Line in Bangkok, Thailand. The name Saint Louis is of the neighbourhood surrounding the Saint Louis Catholic Church and the affiliated Saint Louis Hospital on the Sathon Tai Road. It is a station on the Silom Line between Chong Nonsi and Surasak, and opened on 8 February 2021. In 2018, it was decided to finally build the missing Suksa Witthaya (S4) station, the environment impact assessment was finalised in March 2019. Construction of the station began in August 2019 and by the end of 2019 had reached 25% progress. By August 2020, construction had reached 50% but was 30% behind schedule due to COVID related delays. The station opened on 8 February 2021.
