JK Rowling got many things right in Harry Potter - one of them being the Elder Wand, which is of course one of the most potent magic woods that you can craft a wand from. This is traditional witchcraft at its best, looking at the real reasons why the elder wand is such an iconic piece of equipment, and in fact the traditional witchcraft associated with the Elder Tree, its folklore and magical uses. I have not mentioned the herbal capabilities in this video of the elder, but needless to say they are legion with different parts of the plant serving different purposes. For those of you who are from across the pond, below are the measurements and ingredients for the elderflower cordial. On a side note, you should use the SAMBUCUS NIGRA strain of elderflower, as the others are not sweet enough. This is the classic native UK plant that grows all over the British Isles and is a staple hedgerow tree. Unfortunately, I suspect it does not grow wild in the USA but please don’t quote me on that!
