Wing Commander Linda Corbould (OAM) has had a diverse and decorated career as a transport aircraft pilot. She became the third woman to graduate in 1990 from the pilots’ course, after it opened to women. She then went on to fly C130 Hercules for 36 Squadron for 15 years. In 2003 she received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her work as the Deputy Detachment Commander for RAAF C130 operations, and for her role as the Mission Commander for the first Australian C130 flight into Baghdad, delivering aid as part of Operation Falconer. In 2006 she was appointed as the CO of 36 Squadron and tasked with establishing the Squadron to operate and maintain the C-17A Globemaster aircraft into RAAF service. WGCDR Corbould retired from the Permanent Air Force in 2008. She transferred to the Reserves and became an Air Force Liaison Officer (AFLO) for Tasmania in 2017, to give back and use her experience to help the Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC) achieve their goals. As an AFLO she acts as the link between the AAFC in Tasmania and the RAAF. The role requires a good general knowledge of military processes, as well as patience, initiative, common sense and people skills. Want even more videos like this?
