Tesla Roadsters were limited production with only 2400 built and released worldwide. Before an automotive product can be released, a few rounds of trial production and prototype vehicles are created to verify design, engineering, and validation testing before being put into production. Special tests, such as collision test (destructive), vibration and noise test (NVH) of the whole vehicle, a road test certificate of the whole vehicle is also required which includes fatigue endurance, exposure to temperature extremes, and various typical conditions, such as high-speed condition, gravel road condition, square pit condition and corrosion condition. The vehicles created for this purpose are often destroyed during testing, like collision testing.
