Don't forget to like and subscribe for more educational content! Insulinoma - Quick Overview Cause: A rare pancreatic tumor arising from beta cells, secreting excess insulin, leading to hypoglycemia. Most are benign and solitary, but a few can be malignant. Symptoms: Whipple's Triad: 1. Symptoms of hypoglycemia (sweating, tremors, hunger, confusion, seizures). 2. Low blood glucose (less than 50 mg/dL) during symptoms. 3. Symptoms relieved by glucose intake. Laboratory & Diagnostic Findings: 72-hour fasting test: Shows low glucose, high insulin, and high C-peptide. Imaging (CT/MRI/endoscopic ultrasound): Locates the tumor. Selective arterial calcium stimulation test: Identifies occult insulinomas. Treatment: Surgical removal (curative in most cases). Medical therapy (if inoperable/malignant): Diazoxide to reduce insulin secretion. Somatostatin analogs (octreotide) for symptom control. Frequent small meals to prevent hypoglycemia. Early detection and surgical removal offer the best prognosis. #Insulinoma #ClinicalCaseStudy #Pancreatic Tumor #Hypoglycemia #Endocrinology #Medical Education #Healthcare Professional #Neuroendocrine Tumor #HealthEducation #MedicalCaseStudy #Sanjay GuptaMBBS
