Today we will go up to the mountain of Cerro Guajibo, located on Pedro Camejo Island. This small island is in the middle of the Orinoco River, between Colombia and Venezuela. Cerro Guajibo is part of the Guyanese shield. The earth, in its beginning, was volcanic and convulsed planet, where the mountain ranges were just beginning to rise, breaking the earth's surface. These rounded and smooth hills were some of the first to emerge. The 900 feet tall hill was made of solid rock, with vertical walls so steep that we had to climb them with the help of ropes.
