arts video by Casa a Mare "MOI" (Now) (lyrics: M. Durante / music: R. B. Bähncke, M. Durante) from the album "Canzoniere" (Ponderosa Music Records 2017), by Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino Casa a Mare creates an arts video for the CGS’s song Moi “Today you go looking for that color that represents you” is the opening verse of the song Moi, and you immediately think of a research, a quest. The videoclip made by Casa a Mare is a autumn road trip in Salento, in Puglia region at the heel of the Italian boot, through the places of the “second homes”, alternative houses, that aren’t usually even located far from the main, commonly called “waterfront houses” (=case a mare). This houses aren’t in facts always by the sea, but they don’t lose their peculiar names because of that. The video investigates those houses after the summer season, when everything is basically deserted, and the touristic season a forgotten memory. “the smell that reminds you of your home when you feel it” continues the lyrics written by Mauro Durante. The research of the video focus on the interiors of the houses, that most of the times are the result of an extraordinary process of reuse. Items you don’t wanna see in your main house, but that you’re not quite ready to discard, they end being in those “casa a mare”. The landscape you see from the car windows is irregular, indented, architecturally abusive. The Casa a Mare tends to be a place where the construction law stops working, and the standards of beauty take unexpected directions. The owners and builders take here strange freedoms in making the houses, driven by different parameters. The videoclip is not only an architectural analysis, not only a socio-anthropological research on the recent collective memory, this video is primarily a journey full of breaks, made to look into those details that make the “case a mare” some real containers of stories.
