Jerry Moffat added this sweet vario to "Midnight Lightning," the eternal calssic in camp 4 on the Columbia boulder in Yosemite, CA. This is a slightly harder variation that shares the same exit of Midnight. This mantle, as you will see, remains the crux for me after all these years! This climb is given V10 (7C+) in the guidebook written by Matt Wilder, but many climbers this season felt the difficulty was comparable to Midnight Lightning. I felt it was a little harder, maybe V9 for me. If you haven't been to Yosemite to boulder when the temps are good, you are missing out on some of the funnest climbing in the world. Perhaps THE best Granite climbing area known. Power is not enough to climb here as most climbs require deft footwork and a strong head for the tall nature of the climbs. All grades increase by 2 points in summer months.
