"Chronic testicular pain: The experiences of patients undergoing microsurgical spermatic cord denervation" Speakers: Dr. Davina Banner & Dr. Darby Cassidy ** NOTE TO VIEWERS There were some technical difficulties and the sound does not come on until 10:16 and the power point does not begin sharing until 24:50. In this presentation on Chronic Scrotal Content Pain (or orchialgia), Dr. Banner and Dr. Cassidy will provide an overview of the MSCD procedure and the clinical data collected as part of a clinical evaluation. 17 testicular units were included in this evaluation and the procedure was associated with an 83% success rate, of which 61% of patients experienced no pain and 22% experienced mild pain following MSCD. In order to better understand the experiences of men living with chronic scrotal content pain and undergoing MSCD, we will present the findings from our ongoing qualitative study. To date, seven participants have undertaken in-depth qualitative interviews, with participants highlighting the profound impact that chronic orchialgia had on their personal and private life, with many reporting lasting psychological trauma and social impacts. For all of the participants, MSCD was perceived as their only option and provided a means through which to regain their quality of life.
