Sorry about the glitch in the matrix @00:50, not sure what happened, tried fixing it and made it worse so yeah we'll just roll with the original... video resumes at 1:27 I present for your enjoyment the epic battle of CNC router Vs. Metal!!! 6061-T6 Aluminum to be exact. And yes, everything went fine. I know, sorry not sorry. Sunday Sunday Sunday!!! So what is it actually? This is a chunk of 3/8" thick 6061-T6 aluminum plate leftover from another project that I used to make a totally overkill exhaust damper cover for my BBQ! Carved on my Inventables X-Carve Pro using a 90* carbide V bit and a 1/4" carbide upcut bit. Stock/Automatic settings would have taken about a year and a half to do the project (actually, around 5 hours...) I upped the speed quite a bit but left the plunge and depth of cut settings conservative. V carving was done at 30 in/min, 3 in/min plunge, .003" DoC. Cutting was done at 60 in/min, 5 in/min plunge, .003" DoC. These feed rates are roughly half of what I calculated the maximum feed rates to be for each bit. I say roughly because info on router bits seems to be different than the info you get on milling bits so I made an educated guess or two in the process. And I was excited/impatient to try it out so there's that too... All in all, worked great and I'll definitely be cutting more non-ferrous metals in the future! links to the products used: -Amazon Affiliate link to 1/4" upcut bit I used: https://amzn.to/3ATwamC -90* Carvide V bit I used: https://www.inventables.com/technolog...
