Meteorologist Ashley Renee has your 7:45 am forecast. Good morning everyone and happy Monday! Carnival season is starting off with very chilly weather. We’re under a cold weather advisory until 9 am. We’re starting our morning with temperatures near freezing across our area. NW winds are around 10-20 mph, but winds have been gusting between 20 mph and 30 mph. Wind chill values are in the 20s. Highs will only be near 40 degrees. Please stay bundled up all throughout the day. Wear multiple layers all day to stay warm. Skies will be partly cloudy so at least we’ll have some sunshine. The bitter cold will stick around all week long. Keep your pets inside because it’s also too cold for them just like it is for you. Keep your plants inside and let your faucets drip at night and early in the morning. Skies will be mostly clear tonight and during the overnight hours. Temperatures will be in the 30s this evening. Overnight lows will be near 30. Again, please remember your pets too. If you have farm animals, then make sure you have another straw and hay for them to stay warm. Keep enough fresh food and water out for them too. Tuesday morning will start off the same....very chilly. As previously mentioned, overnight lows will be near 30. We’ll have plenty of sunshine tomorrow so it will be a nice pretty day. Just very, very cold. Winds won’t be as breezy so that will help a little bit. A hard freeze will be possible early Wednesday and Thursday mornings. We’ll have dry, sunny and cold weather for most of this week. Highs will be in the 40s. Morning lows will be right at the freezing temperature or just a little below freezing (upper 20s to about 30 degrees). At the end of the week, a low pressure system will likely pass through our area. There might be a mixture of rain and wintry precipitation Thursday morning for counties in southwest and central Mississippi. A wintry mix of precip is also possible that afternoon and evening in that area. It looks like south Louisiana will just have a cold rain, but that could possibly change. The rain should clear out Friday afternoon. Saturday morning will be chilly with lows in the 30s. Highs will be near 50. Sunday morning will also be chilly with morning lows in the 30s. Highs will be in the 50s. Stay tuned for updates and changes in the forecast concerning a possible wintry mix of precipitation later this week. Thanks for watching. Have a magnificent Monday!
