Luke's Patient Story: Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease Care and Treatment

Discover Luke’s heartwarming story of resilience, after being diagnosed with pediatric congenital heart disease. Luke was diagnosed with congenital heart disease before he was born. After his birth, he was brought to Phoenix Children’s when he was just a week old. Using the technology available, the doctors and surgeons were able to get all of the information they needed about Luke before he was even transferred to their CVICU. Before Luke underwent heart surgery to have a central shunt put in, his family was able to see exactly what his heart currently looked like and what needed to be fixed, through the use of a three-dimensional heart model. Luke’s family found the model of his heart to be very helpful to them, giving them comfort that the surgeons could see exactly what they needed to do before surgery even began. Following a successful surgery, Luke was discharged exactly one month after being admitted.
