During the harsh winter season, its average temperature reaches as low as -40°C. In December 2009, Genhe recorded an extreme low of -58°C, the coldest temperature ever recorded in China’s meteorological history—a record that remains unbroken to this day. This is even colder than Mohe, China's northernmost city, which recorded a historical low of -53°C.In the previous two episodes of our Genhe series, we visited the Aoluguya reindeer herders deep in the Greater Khingan Mountains and explored the early morning market inside a natural ice cellar. In this episode, the 4th installment of our Genhe series, we follow a group of livestreamers who drive hundreds of kilometers to Genhe City, braving the extreme cold in pursuit of fortune.
