Eastern Cape, South Africa. For sixteen years in a row the South African Police Air Wing has targeted this village, along with hundreds of others, with an Aerial Cannabis Eradication Program, for daring to continue to cultivate a traditional cannabis crop that has sustained them for centuries. This illegal and inhumane campaign has wrought untold suffering. In this video community members share their feelings around their government’s plans to license medicinal production for profit. In 2017 the Medicines Control Council released their guidelines for growing medicinal cannabis in South Africa, yet they failed to consider these traditional subsistence cannabis farming communities in their production requirements.
