From the 2022 Pediatric Transplant Conference, part of National Pediatric Transplant Week and National Donate Life Month. Presenters: Catherine Dussing, Pediatric Psychology Fellow at the University of Michigan For pediatric transplant recipients and their families, understanding trauma-informed care is essential. A transplant can be a frightening and overwhelming experience, and it is important to have a health care team that understands the potential challenges to the child and family and can provide support. Trauma-informed care means that the team understands the impact of traumatic events on health, recognizes signs and symptoms of trauma, and responds in a supportive way. This approach can help ensure that everyone involved in a child's transplant journey feels supported and safe. Intro music: Time Warp by Emil Waldhauer (Notize), 2022. Used with permission.
