Longwall mining is a method of extracting coal that causes massive disruption to the surface and is particularly devastating to streams. Check out this video of a Greene County, Pennsylvania stream recently undermined, and the disruptive attempts made to remediate it. This stream flows into a Pennsylvania State Park, and if the mining isn’t stopped, the impacts will be even worse inside the park boundaries.
