This is the Pelican 1495 laptop case, but this particular version is the 1495CC1 which is the more expensive one set up specifically for maximum protection of laptops. (I got mine on eBay cheap!) These cases are military spec cases. Like all peli cases, they are designed to protect the contents from extreme trauma during transit. People have used these cases to store weapons during domestic US flights, store their priceless watch collection, store their harmonicas for playing gigs etc. These cases are heavy. They are built like a tank and weigh as much as one. Empty, the basic models can weigh about 3.5 KG empty and my CC1 version weighs 5.6 KG empty. So they have put a lot of thought and materials into ensuring your laptop or other contents will survive the apocalypse lol. They have double throw latches, steel reinforced padlock holes, side mounting points for a shoulder strap (needed!) and a 3 digit code lock for every day typical security needs. You really do need a shoulder strap for this case, if you plan on walking around with it for longer than just a short period. They are used by professionals and government / military all over the world. Made in America. Nothing is 100% indestructible, but these cases are built to be extremely tough and survive in extreme conditions. They protect the contents at any cost. So if you want a dependable military-grade protective case for your laptop or other small gear, you need to get yourself on eBay asap and look for a deal. If you can get the CC1 version that is great, if not, you may find a few basic models with varying levels of foam or totally empty. Some sellers are selling ones with very custom foam that is precisely cut for some object you do not have, so you'd have to throw that foam away and either use as an empty box or buy your own replacement pick and pluck foam (pelican or generic that you cut to fit) Absolutely fantastic case. You can contact Pelican in your country and get free replacement code locks if you find a case with a damaged or missing code lock. Also if the padlock protectors are missing they should be able to replace those for you. And here is a pro tip you can do. If you are careful, you can use a rotary tool with a firm buffing wheel to wipe off the numbers from your code lock dials. That way you turn all the dials backwards till they stop at point zero and then count the digits you increment to enter your code. That way when your code is entered, nobody can glance at your case and see what the code is. Makes it more annoying for someone to try and guess your code because they cannot see any numbers.
