When it’s armed it will honk the horn and flash the lights if a door, the lift gate or the hood is opened. To check if the anti-theft alarm is operating, locate the indicator light on the instrument panel near the windshield. If the light is off, the system is disarmed. If the light stays on, the XT5 is in the process of arming the system. When the light flashes slowly, the alarm is armed. A pulsing flash means it’s unsecured and a door, hood or lift gate is open. To activate this system, turn the vehicle off and make sure the doors, lift gate and hood are closed. You can lock the vehicle using either the Keyless Access system, pressing the inside lock button with the door opened or press the lock button on the key fob. The alarm will arm after 30 seconds and the indicator light will begin to slowly flash confirming the system is active. Press the lock on the key fob 2 times to arm the system immediately and bypass the 30 second delay. In addition to the standard Theft Deterrent System, the available security package adds an Inclination Sensor, Intrusion Sensor, a Power Sounder, a Glass Breakage Sensor, Door Lock Shields and Locking Lug Nuts. The Inclination Sensor sets off the alarm if it senses movement of the vehicle such as if the vehicle is jacked up. The Intrusion Sensor monitors the vehicle interior and sets off the alarm if it senses an unauthorized entry. The Power Sounder provides a high pitched alarm separate from the horn of the XT5. It’s equipped with its own power source and will sound the alarm if the battery is disconnected. Other theft protection features include Glass Breakage Sensors that sound an alarm if a window breaks. Door Lock Shields that help discourage a door from being pried open and Locking Lug Nuts for preventing wheel theft.
