My Alpine INE-W960 woes

After updating my maps in accordance to Alpines directions through NaviExtra my beloved Alpine INE-W960 became a brick, completely functionless, a $500.00 paper weight. Since it was under warranty it would get repaired. Oh boy was I wrong ! Unfortunately I bought it from Amazon which according to Alpine voids any warranty, huh ? So after spending $30.00 to ship the unit back to Alpine, they call and inform me it it going to cost $170.00 to repair. After much begging and pleading they told me they would do the repair for $50.00 since the reason for the unit bricking was the built in SD card was defective, ok cool I will take that hit. I received the unit back in appx 3 weeks. Reinstalled the radio and it is not fixed ! Navigation is not functioning at all and sometimes the unit works ok then it decides to be a brick again until it shuts itself off a reawakens. I have tried every possible form of resetting the POS and it is still useless. Alpine and other manufacturers are just NOT what they used to be. Sad very 😢
