Presented By: Finlay MacKenzie Prof. Dražen Huić, MD Speaker Biography: Mr MacKenzie sits in the executive board of the UK NEQAS, as the Director of Birmingham Quality with all the full budget and line-management responsibilities for all the Operational and Scientific aspects of the Department. He was the Secretary of EQALM (the European EQA providers association) and contributes to several EFLM TFGs on Performance Specifications in Laboratory Medicine (TF-PS). He was also a member of the IFCC Committee on Standardisation of Thyroid Function Tests and is still contributing to the IFCC Working Group on Commutability. His most recent publications in Clinical Chemistry have been on this topic. Mr MacKenzie speaks regularly at a range of events from UK NEQAS Roadshows, Company User-Groups, Scientific Meetings (both in the UK and abroad) as well as having had a commitment to in the past to post-grad and under-grad teaching at Birmingham University. Mr MacKenzie believes his greatest achievement was the introduction of the 'ABC of EQA', which is a statistical and graphical approach to the data processing and reporting of EQA data and which is built on good scheme design. Prof. Huić has research interests that focuses on the latest diagnostic advancements in the field of nuclear medicine. And as the head of the department of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Protection, a Thyroid reference site in Croatia, he interacts daily with patients with thyroid cancer and other thyroid diseases that are referred from primary care centers. So working closely with the laboratory department is invaluable to understand the disease state of his patients more readily and discuss next steps in their care quicker. Prof. Huić has his PhD from University of Zagreb School of Medicine and has had a progressive career afterwards at the same institution. He is currently the head of the depatment of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation, and is the president of the Croatian society of nuclear medicine. In the 2nd half of this webinar, Mr MacKenzie will present his analytical insights on the evaluation of on-market TFTs during his current tenure at UK NEQAS and key considerations for both laboratories and manufacturers to provide most accurate measurements of TFTs, that will ultimately impact patient care and pathway.
