Beth Hart (born January 24, 1972) is an American singer-songwriter. She collaborated with Joe Bonamassa several times. In the early 1990s, Beth Hart first appeared in the public eye through a talent show in which she won $100,000. Hart recorded a number of songs in 1993 and released a home-made album, which remained unknown to the public and the media. It was not until 2009 that this album would be noticed under the name Beth Hart and The Ocean of Souls. It includes the Beatles cover Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and the song Am I the one. This song would appear on her album Immortal a few years later in a final version. When she recorded her first album, Immortal (Atlantic, 1996), she was addicted to drugs and alcohol. Her second album is called Screamin' for my supper (Atlantic, 1999). She is influenced by Etta James for this album, but writes her lyrics about her own problems. The single L.A. Song (Out of this town) became a hit in her homeland the U.S. and also earned her some fame in the Netherlands. Her third album was released in 2004: Leave the light on. The title song did not go unnoticed in the Netherlands. This album is about fighting her problems: drugs and alcohol. In 2005, Beth Hart released the DVD Live at Paradiso. In the same year she performed at Pinkpop. In 2007 the album 37 Days followed, which Hart recorded with Tom Lilly, Jon Nichols, Todd Wolf, Rune Westberg, Walter Thompson and Scott Guetzkow. She played at Paaspop that year, followed by a tour of Amsterdam, The Hague, Tilburg, Utrecht and Groningen, among others. In 2010 the album My California was released. This album has received a lot of attention in the media. Another tour through the Netherlands followed. In the meantime, Hart also began to break through in Germany, where she gave a number of radio interviews and performed in Berlin and Saarbrücken, among other places. In September 2011 the album Don't explain was released. After she previously recorded a song with Joe Bonamassa, this album was recorded entirely together. This became a hit in the Netherlands immediately after its release: the album reached the top 10 of the Album Top 100. On the album, Hart sings, accompanied by Bonamassa (on guitar) and his band, covers of various artists who influenced her in her youth. For example, there is a version of Etta James' Something's gotta hold on me that has been acclaimed by critics on the album and Ain't no way by Aretha Franklin. The single I'll Take Care of You (a cover by Brook Benton) got quite a bit of airplay. In 2012 an acoustic tour was scheduled, during which many festivals were visited. Hart has performed in various European countries. In the Netherlands she performed at Bospop and the Zwarte Cross Festival. She remained very productive in terms of releasing music: after her sixth studio album Bang bang boom boom boom from 2012, another cover album followed in 2013 in collaboration with Joe Bonamassa, entitled Seesaw. Beth Hart only played Pinkpop once, in 2005. Welcome to the official Pinkpop Archive YouTube channel!
