Pictures I've taken of horses that came into Equine Outreach Horse Rescue in Bend OR. All of the horses have thrived with the love and care they have been given. Now it's Spanish Kay's turn, she came in February 6th 2010, and has since been given all the veterinary care she needs. Edit: March 10th, 2010 Ember came to us emaciated and neglected. It took a lot of love (and food) to restore him to health. Since his arrival he has bonded with volunteers and our other horses. He has gotten a chance to be a horse, a loved horse. However, we knew it would only be temporary. Ember has an eye tumor. The vets told us Ember would let us know when the tumor got to be too much for him. And since then our goal has been to give him the best possible end he could have. And now it seems that end has come. Over the last two weeks his eye has protruded far more and the tumor must be causing a lot of pressure now. He is telling us he is hurting; throughout yesterday and today he has laid down much of the time and most disturbing he moves away from your touch. So, tomorrow we will say goodbye to Ember and he can join Lacey over the rainbow bridge. I am glad I was able to meet Ember and watch his progerss over the year he's been with us. Ember was able to spend his final months enjoying life {and the pasture} with his friend Mona and his favorite human Marsha and everyone else. Thank you to everyone who made Ember's life better!
