Zhang Zuolin and his clique are finally ready to strike back...after the disastrous end to the Beiyang "order" brought about by the northern expedition and the subsequent german intervention, the Fengtian army find itself cornered beyond the Great Wall by the forces of their arch-rival, the Zhili. This is nothing new for the hardy northeasterners, however, unlike in the past, the Zhili are supported in full by a puppet emperor and the german imperialists! Because of this despicable foreign meddling, our good Marshal Zhang has been forced to agree to ever greater cooperation with the pan-Asian brothers of Japan, which operates in Manchuria through the seemingly all-powerful Mantetsu trust and the Concordia Association syndicate. Navigating through the muddy waters of Japanese interests will be difficult if the Fengtian wish to establish their legitimate government, but things are further complicated by the factional strife within the clique: regionalists, republican exiles, bandits, old loyalists and robber barons all wish for a share of the pie that the rapid economic development of the North East and the reconquest of the south are sure to bring.
