When recording game footage on Linux, typically the default option is Simple Screen Recorder or something similar. Any software-based recording applications will cause a drop in frame rate because the actual game frames are being funneled through the recording software before they reach your monitor. An alternative to software-based recording are external devices. I shopped around until I found the Hauppauge HD PVR Rocket, which works great for recording things like games. Most (if not all) external video recorders like the PVR Rocket don't have drivers for Linux, which sucks, but they always support a "pass-thru" mode which is what consoles like XBox and PS3/4 use. Basically, plug the video output (from the graphics card) from your computer into the external recorder, and then plug the external recorder into the monitor. It's as simple as that. ⬇︎ System Specs ⬇︎ ✔︎ OS: openSUSE Factory: https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Tumble... ✔︎ Motherboard:MSI A88XM Gaming: http://amzn.to/29OQeP6 ✔︎ CPU: A10-6800: http://amzn.to/29XSONG ✔︎ GPU: R7 260X: http://amzn.to/29Wi0WZ ✔︎ RAM:Radeon R7 8gb: http://amzn.to/2a3kioY ✔︎ SSD: SanDisk SDSSDHP-128G: http://amzn.to/29BABbA ✔︎ HDD: Western Digital WD3200BPVT: http://amzn.to/2a2pIS3
