A few miles North of Boston, Massachusetts, Gloucester was first settled in 1623 and became the first fishing and seaport was established on the North Shore of Massachusetts. As a historical landmark it has played a major part in Nautical history. Eastern Point Lighthouse, land side of the Eastern Point Jetty, is one of the oldest lighthouses in the United States. A Perfect Storm with George Clooney, and the famous Wicked Tuna are both based out of Gloucester and capture a tiny piece of the fishing seaport life in Gloucester, MA. Gloucester still holds its fishing roots but has become a tourist destination for travelers and tourists seeking whale watching, fishing charters, and scenic drives.
