Palm muting strumming is an essential technique across many different styles and genres, on both electric and acoustic guitar. It can be hard to get an effective palm mute when you are just starting out. The key elements of successful palm muting strumming are the hand's position when in contact with the guitar strings and a strumming motion from the wrist rather than the elbow. I will demonstrate how to obtain the optimum hand position and avoid choking the guitar strings. I'll also show you some guitar muting exercises to develop the technique.
