35028 Clan Line with the Cotswold Venturer - Hailey Wood and Kemble. Saturday 23 Aug 2025

Saturday 23 August 2025 and SR Merchant Navy Class 35028 Clan Line spent the day out of region with the Railway Touring Company 'Cotswold Venturer' - London Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill via Swindon and Gloucester over the Golden Valley Line and the climb to Sapperton Tunnel. Seen first on the outward leg climbing through Hailey Wood to Sapperton Tunnel. The whistle in the distance as she crosses Coates Tunnel House foot crossing and enters the woods announces her approach, with the sound building she appears round the curve. For the return I went to Kemble. I was thinking of catching the return climb up the Golden Valley to the Tunnel but after seeing the morning run and guessing she would be getting a good push decided against it. A good decision from what I've seen uploaded elsewhere, line side fire at Stonehouse and full diesel push at the top of the climb spoiling the spectacle! Running 16 minutes late she comes through the station at a reasonable lick with her unique whistle! I have added onto the end a drone shot of the morning run through the woods. I still struggle with my up, down, left, right control but anyway there it is. Enjoy.
