I have a private playlist of songs that I update every time I find something I want to cover, and this has been on there for...pretty much 10 years. Actually, it was one of those songs that 2016 me wanted to cover, but it was severely out of my range and vocal ability to do so at the time. So I'm stoked that this actually worked out; but it goes to show how time and practice really evolved me. I love the soul Misia brought to this, and it's such a masterpiece composition-wise to this day. I also really like how 90s it sounds without it being from the 90s, if you get what I mean. I really wanted to keep that feel with my vocals and with the mix, so everything is rather simple and basic in terms of processing, and I really tried to prioritize performance over technical vocal perfection this time.
