Here is the "Toxic Toshi Strat" in Toshi's own words! "So basically, I used four Pokémon in almost every game. Qwilfish, Alolan Muk, Shadow Exeggutor and Eacavalier. I like this team for a lot of reasons, it’s incredibly flexible, AMuk and Esca are two of the safest switches in the game and Qwil has a lot of positive neutral matchups as well. Secondly the team was built around drawing out Toxi. I wanted to face a Toxi in every game considering how strong Egg is against it. My Muk, Esca, Qwil and Drapion all lost to Toxi in the one shield so I was pretty confident I’d see it a lot. If I did see a Toxi in the lead, I would switch into Egg at some point in the match and just delete it. I got a little better at it in future tournaments, but I think you see it a few times here too. If I didn’t see a Toxi in the lead, I would almost always safe swap Muk or Esca to draw it out, try and draw a shield and then delete the Toxi with like one Confusion. So that’s how I played Toxi teams. Without Toxi, I mostly just capitalized on Muk’s strengths as a switch in. There’s almost nothing that beats it if it gets a two Snarl advantage so it was able to pull me out of a lot bad leads and give me switch. Qwil, Esca and Egg are all so good if you can get them in the right matchups. So it was mostly that. You’ll see a lot of Qwil/Egg/Muk, Qwil/Esca/Muk. A few Muk/Esca/Qwil. I think I brought Muk and Qwil in almost every game and the other two took turns. Egg was the MVP. The ability to just delete Toxi and Golbat on the switch in and chunk down Worm was huge. That’ll definitely be a theme.
