Video interview with the legendary Bull Nakano, who helped ignite the evolution of the revolution in women's wrestling in the United States. Beforer Trish Stratus, Lita and others, it was Alundra Blayze/Madussa, Sherri Martel, Luna Vachon and Bull Nakano who were putting women's wrestling on the map in America. Nakano displayed a tremendous career in the ring, wrestling around the world, including her native Japan, of course. She has seen and done it all. Known for her aggressive style in the ring and elaborate, colorful and menacing look (spiked hair, war paint, etc.), she broke the mold with a unique persona. Retired from in-ring competition, now Nakano is helping a new company, working as its commissioner. In September, Sukeban debuted with New York City its inaugural location. The event aired live on Sukeban's TikTok account. Sukeban is pro wrestling with Japanese pro wrestlers in cosplay. That’s the peripheral. According to Nakano, it is muchmore than that. Sukeban is inspiring girls, women to be themselves, whether it's unique, different, individualized, group related via various outlets and ring gears. Sukeban by definition is a new Japanese women's Joshi wrestling league. An ode to the girl gangs in the 1960s and 1970s –– in Japanese, Sukeban (スケバン/助番) is a term meaning 'delinquent girl', and the female equivalent to the male banchō in Japanese culture. Blending fashion, beauty and anime with traditional Japanese women’s wrestling, Sukeban brings together terror-filled IRL battles and cute costumes. The Ying and Yang of pro wrestling. It is something birthing, developing in the United States, but Nakano says it can grow with possible plans to bring it to Japan and elsewhere. Sukeban's second show is a very important event, especially after the rave reviews and positive feedback, stemming from the first show in NYC. Sukeban longs to continue with the excitement, fun, inspirational and competitive nature of the product, choosing South Florida for show No.2. Sukeban is Dec. 6 in Downtown Miami as part of Art Basel Week at Lot 11, Miami's free and public skate park, hosted by famous Japanese writer and actor Kunichi Nomura. In the main event, Ichigo (Unagi) Sayaka faces Commander (Arisa) Nakajima to crown Sukeban's first champion. For ticket information, go to https://sukeban.com/. Nakano, what an athlete, after an outstanding pro wrestling career, she turned to golf, qualifying for the LPGA. Quite the accomplishment.
