"Change paint into bread" http://www.josegosschalk.nl/ http://www.noumenonspiritueel.nl/pagi... José Medrado, whose multiple mediumistic faculties emerged in his childhood, others throughout his adolescence, started painting mediumisticly at the age of 27, when the spirit Renoir came up to him and proposed to jointly undertake a work which would "change paint into bread". At first, Medrado was reluctant to accept that idea as he had never taken any painting course and was not acquainted with art. The proposal, however, was "turning him into a living brush" in order to raise funds for the orphanage supported by the Spiritist Center, which was going through financial problems at that time. Though his first sketches were non-encouraging, Medrado went on trying. After his first frustrating tries, on the evening of December 20th, 1988, while listening to Beethoven's 9th Symphony, the spirit Van Gogh, using the medium, portrayed the German composer who had lived a hundred years before the Dutch painter. This was the turning point which launched Medrado into the mediumistic art world in Bahia, as well as in Brazil and abroad. Medrado normally paints mediumisticly in front of an audience, in a matter of minutes what would take professional painters a long time to do similarly. On those occasions, the 19th-century Impressionist painters are those who most frequently manifest themselves. But Medrado also paints in his studio when Classical, Renascence and Sacred paintings are produced. Before public sessions, Medrado had his canvases appreciated by art critics who found, in his works, features peculiar to Renoir, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Matisse, Marry Cassat, Berthe Morisot, Edouard Manet... One of the critics - Matilde Mattos - member of the "International Association of Critics of Art" and of the "Brazilian Association of Critics of Art" wrote in the newspaper "Jornal da Bahia", on 05/05/1990, the following: "We know that a person who has never been trained as a painter - by squeezing paint onto a canvas and making movements - would not be able to make any picture pop up. It would take a lot of training and experience for a person to forsee what would come out. It is quite impossible for non-trained hands! However, as to Medrado's paintings the images are always well-centered and well-proportioned." All money collected from his mediumistic painting goes to social work - food and clothes distribution, helps support the orphanage belonging to City of Light and other charity institutions. According to the agreement set by Medrado and the spirit Renoir, during their first contact, Medrado's psychopictography faculty would be discontinued in case the philanthropic purpose were neglected. It´s been a non-stop work since then. http://www.cidadedaluz.com.br/pt/even... http://www.josegosschalk.nl/index.php...
