Still dazed from the midnight premiere of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, I found myself doing a LIVE television report for WBTV (CBS) Charlotte, NC — despite having zero experience as a reporter. This was a one-time thing, arranged by my longtime friend and WBTV anchor John Carter, who thought it’d be fun to let a real fan share the excitement of Star Wars opening day. And fun it was — if a little nerve-wracking! Running on three hours of sleep and full of adrenaline, I stood in the Arboretum parking lot at 7:30am with friends, IFB in ear, mic in hand, and the WBTV van beaming me live to Charlotte viewers.
