Tascam 688 Belt Replacement (and solution to transport stopping during playback)

Walkthrough of how to take apart a Tascam 688 and replace the capstan belt. Also included: how to fix a 688 that stops playing, ff, or rw, for apparently no reason. The culprit is probably the contacts under the lifter arms that detect a tape. These lifters are on the top left of the transport and will stop the transport if not lifted high enough. Over time these contacts collect dust and grime, which makes the transport think there isn't a tape loaded when there actually is. To fix, simply blast contact cleaner into the area the lifters press into. This is in a recessed area at the top left of the transport (shown in video).
