Hi everyone, it's Annabel, welcome back to my channel! (If you want to skip the intro and get to the media test, the time stamp is 05:30 ) This gets nerdy Today we are going to be looking at the properties of a few different inorganic medias, both their water absorption capacity, and their ability to hold onto that water- how quickly they then dry out. First I introduce why we may need different media for different orchids in different environments (So many variables!). I'm going to be measuring each of these properties for the following media: LECA LECA + Pebble top layer Seramis SaniCat (Danish Moler Clay) Pumice Perlite Synthic And we will discuss the results of pH measurement, water absorption and a 7 day drying test.
