In this video we troubleshot and repaired a Yamaha gas powered golf cart . When the pedal was pushed the engine would start but would not accelerate at all. We checked the obvious, air, spark, and fuel. We knew we had spark because the engine would run so we assumed we had a fuel related issue. We pulled the injector and pushed on the gas pedal while spraying fuel into the air inlet, injector was squirting but the volume of fuel spray did not increase with gas pedal demand. We then pulled the fuel pick up housing from the gas tank and installed a hose on the discharge port. We turned the key on, the fuel pump started, we blocked the other end of the hose to check for back pressure and the fuel pressure regulator was dumping fuel out of the relief port, so we knew that the regulator was bypassing fuel within the tank and not allowing adequate fuel pressure to be built. We ordered a new regulator, installed it, and she fired right up and ran well. The part number for the regulator is HFP-PR10 and it is made by QUANTUM FUEL SYSTEMS. The price ranges from $35-$50 depending on your specific model.
