How should humans work in an age of AI? In this episode of The Mindset Economy podcast, Mithu Storoni joins Jean Gomes and Scott Allender to explore how industrial-era ideas about efficiency and productivity shaped modern work, and why those templates no longer fit how the brain actually works. Mithu explains why AI will increasingly take over quantitative work, and why human value now lies in creativity, problem solving, judgment, and quality of thinking. Drawing on neuroscience, she describes how the brain works in rhythms and states, why sustained attention reduces efficiency, and why breaks, movement, and timing matter for high-quality work. The conversation looks at ultradian rhythms, creativity at different times of day, mind wandering as a signal, and how leaders can design workplaces that help people think better rather than simply do more.
