In this video, I’m sharing a bit about my experience going to school for music. I recently graduated from Full Sail University, and I wanted to talk about what I learned as I start moving forward in my career. Highlights: • NO – You don’t need a degree to have a career in music production or most creative roles (producer, artist, songwriter, musician). • YES – Networking, skill-building, and real-world experience are far more important than formal education. • MAYBE – A degree can help if you want to work in technical, academic, or corporate roles like a sound designer for film or games, audio engineer in broadcasting, acoustics specialist, or music educator. • TIP – Focus on building a strong portfolio, collaborating with others, and mastering your tools. This can also help you decide if you need to further your education. If you’re thinking about going to school for music production, audio engineering, songwriting, or anything in between, I hope this helps you out. Whether you decide to go the college route or take a more independent path, investing in yourself and your craft is always worth it.
