Blameless and upright, feared God in his heart, Shunning all evil, kept his ways apart. But the heavens did open, and the voice did sound, "Have You seen my servant?" God’s praise did resound. Yet Satan replied with a sneering doubt, "Touch his life, and he’ll cast You out." [Chorus] Oh, though He slay me, I will still trust, When all fades to ashes, I cling to dust. The Lord gives, the Lord takes away, Blessed be His name, come what may. [Verse 2] In the blink of an eye, Job's riches were gone, Oxen and donkeys, the fire took them on. Servants were slaughtered, sheep set aflame, His children struck down, but Job didn’t blame. He tore his robe, bowed low to the ground, In all of his loss, no sin to be found. [Verse 3] Then out of the whirlwind, the answer was heard, The voice of the Maker, in thunderous word: "Where were you when I laid earth’s deep foundations, The stars in the heavens, the sea’s vast salvation?" Job trembled and bowed, he finally knew, God’s wisdom was higher, His purpose true. Restored in double was all he’d lost, Through fire and trial, he bore the cost.
