This video applies to a majority of E90 BMW 335d & 335i using Bilstein HD (B6) or Sport (B8) struts. The standard Bilstein bump for those applications is about 65mm long (I misspoke and said '62 mm') and a medium density (~200 lb/in). We typically trim the front bump stop to about 25-30mm and use a 3mm packer as final insurance to prevent bottoming. In this way you get increased bump stop but also a safe approach to full compression. For the E90 BMW M3, the provided bump stop is a 40mm long 'soft' density (~100 lb/in) and for our E90 M3 customer Pete C, we cut the stop in half and used a 6mm packer. He reported no bottoming or rubbing issue and loved the setup overall! His comments are below: FCM Elite E90 M3 owner Pete's initial comments #1: http://www.fatcatmotorsports.com/img/... FCM Elite E90 M3 owner Pete's initial comments #2: http://www.fatcatmotorsports.com/img/... For all BMWs, you can leave the stock rear bump stops and add slotted 3mm packers for fine-tuning handling. I.e. add packers to the rear to increase understeer. Or, if you find the rear bump stops degraded you can substitute an FCM 58mm 'red'. NOTE: For the 335d application, and perhaps even 335i, one customer noted that the shortened shaft length of the Bilstein Sport (B8) made it very hard to install his aftermarket springs. So my suggestion per his experience is to use the Bilstein HD on the 335d applications.
